I see street graffiti all around me, and it always makes me wonder how people find a way to doodle on public property without being seen or caught. Although graffiti is considered vandalism and is illegal, there is something quite captivating about the free self-expression through graffiti. There is also an element of mystery in graffiti since we see only the footprint left behind and not the elusive vandals themselves. This impression of mine was the inspiration for Unseen. The presence of the neon pink surveillance camera speaks to how we monitor the behavior of other members of society to make sure they are acting in a socially appropriate way. However, the desire to express oneself can not be suppressed, and people will find a way to be heard and seen.
